Docbyte Vault Training

From preservation principles to practical archive design

Docbyte Vault Training combines the foundations of digital archiving with practical archive design and Vault configuration. Participants learn how information packages, metadata, preservation and access come together in a trusted digital archive.

Docbyte Vault Fundamentals

Fundamentals introduces the concepts behind a trusted digital archive and shows how they translate into Docbyte Vault. It is the recommended foundation for Advanced, but not a mandatory prerequisite.

Docbyte Vault Advanced

Advanced applies the concepts from digital archiving to a practical application-retirement scenario. Participants learn how to configure a Docbyte Vault environment for the chosen use case and apply the resulting archive design to a practical, validated archive workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Fundamentals is recommended preparation, but it is not mandatory if you already have sufficient knowledge of digital archiving and Docbyte Vault.

No. The training focuses on designing and configuring a Vault environment and applying it to practical archive workflows. Platform deployment, provisioning and infrastructure setup are outside the scope.

Working knowledge of XML and XSLT is expected for Advanced. No separate infrastructure or development environment is presented as a public prerequisite.

Application retirement brings together archive design, package structure, metadata, validation and search in one practical scenario.

Yes. Include the expected number of participants in the request form. We will review the request and propose the most suitable option.

Deleting or switching off a system removes the operating burden, but it can also remove access to evidence. Application retirement preserves the information that still has value, together with the relationships, metadata, retention rules and audit trail needed to understand and defend it later.

Structured data archiving keeps retired application data searchable, governed and traceable after the source system is decommissioned. It supports retention management, legal hold, audit requests and controlled access without keeping obsolete infrastructure alive

A defensible retirement process includes extraction checks, validation rules, reconciliation, integrity evidence and documentation of the migration outcome. This creates an audit trail showing what was migrated, how it was validated and how it can be accessed after retirement.

Docbyte Vault provides a governed archive for retired application data. It supports structured data preservation, metadata and context retention, controlled access, search, retention, legal hold, auditability and long-term preservation beyond the life of the original system.
